Boston is a big bar city, but there’s no shortage of great lounges, too. From Downtown Boston, to the Seaport, Back Bay and beyond, these lounges are the perfect spot to celebrate your birthday. Boasting great music, big drink menus, and stellar service, you won’t regret planning your Boston birthday at any of these top spots.
Alibi is a Boston classic, with service in the lounge or on the sunny courtyard patio of the old Charles St. Jail. Either is a great choice for groups ranging in size from 2 to 20. My suggestion in the summer to crush mucho tequila on the patio, maybe with a few Cool Hand Cukes or Sangrias. In the winter, keep warm in the cozy bar area while a DJ spins top 40 and mashups on Thursday through Saturday nights. Check out Alibi here.
For a low-key birthday just off of Boston Common, the Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons is an excellent choice. I’d opt for a few signature martinis and a few bottles of Rosé. Yes, I drink Rosé. The guys at the wine shop near my apartment told me I had nothing to be ashamed of. Book a table at the Bristol here.
I’m a big fan of the W Lounge. The VIP tables are in the bustling lobby lounge, which is a plus if you are looking for a spot to see-and-be-seen at your birthday party. Another thing I’m a big fan of –I’m really blowing my own spot up here– is the lychee martini. 10/10: tasty beverage, highly crushable, would drink 57 for my birthday. Enjoy a lychee martini today by clicking here.
Three words: TIKI DRINK MENU. It’s your birthday, and sometimes a few drinks with umbrellas in them just make sense. Low table minimums, awesome food, and again: TIKI DRINK MENU. Trust me you definitely want to try out those tiki drinks and it’s as easy as clicking here.
Empire is over in Seaport, and is another cool spot for a low-key birthday. The menu is killer, and each of their 12 rooms have a unique aesthetic that set different tones. The bottle menu is extensive, the Opium Dream is a tasty summery cocktail, and the scorpion bowls are lethal. You can order group drinks like the scorpion bowls right through Tablelist, and definitely toss in a few bucks for a food spend. Enjoy Empire today.
Chalet at Bastille
Chalet at Bastille is a sweet spot, and with a swiss chalet vibe, it’s a truly unique spot in the city. You can throw in a food and beverage spend when selecting bottles through Tablelist, and you should, because the menu is unreal. The Fruits de Mer Platter is a hit for the seafood lover: oysters, clams, shrimp, lobsters, and a salmon tartare. YES. Book here.
Bond is located in the Langham, another historic landmark located in Boston’s original Federal Reserve Building. This is another spot that I’d recommend prepaying for a food and beverage spend along with your bottle orders, for drinks like the Lincoln or Franklin, as well as the charcuterie plates. Excellent birthday spot, impressive menu, and an all-around good choice for a night out. Enjoy this unique venue today by clicking here.
